Why Consider Mediation Instead Of Conventional Divorce Through The Connecticut Court System?

Divorce is one of the most stressful experiences that a person may ever have to deal with. In addition to facing the emotional trauma of separating a family unit, the process of dividing years of accumulated assets can be complicated and overwhelming. Divorce through Connecticut’s court system can take months, or even years, of timely court appearances and stressful meetings. A Mediator can work within two parties’ schedules to resolve a divorce in just one or two sessions. The Mediator acts as an impartial, neutral third party decision-maker, similar to the function of a trial judge. The difference is that couples have much more control over scheduling and privacy. The Mediator’s decision is binding, so appeals rarely become an issue down the road.
